Since 2025, Kate has been one-half of the writing team Nick n’ Wicz, alongside her dear friend Ami. Together, they’re known for their sharp female characters, sparkling dialogue, and ability to dream up approximately a million ideas a minute.

Kate Torgovnick May started as a journalist, working at JANE Magazine, The New York Times, The Frisky, and TED Talks. But she got bit by the television bug when her narrative nonfiction book, CHEER!: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders, was optioned and transformed into the series HELLCATS on The CW. She was lucky enough to be a Consulting Producer on the show and found herself intrigued by what was going on in the writers room. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue television writing full-time, and got staffed on the iconic CBS series, NCIS.

Ami Angelowicz started as an actor/assistant to an unnamed celebrity who made their dog wear diapers. After working in Broadway production, she discovered her passion for writing at The Frisky, working as the site’s Sex and Relationships editor alongside longtime friend Kate, who was the News and Pop Culture editor. Ami went on to become Editor-in-Chief of the news site for Investigation Discovery, then climbed the ranks at Warner Bros. Discovery, ultimately serving as VP of Digital Content for Investigation Discovery and the Travel Channel, where she developed podcasts and series. After getting laid off, she asked Kate: want to work on some ideas together?
